About the Painting
Fall is over, and the wait for winter snow is on. Though the forest is asleep, we are reminded of its summer lushness by transient crimson leaves scattered along the forest floor. The trunk of this paper birch tree is painted in layers of graphite grey and milky titanium white. The maple leaf is painted in rich magenta and pyrrole red pigments. Carbon black linework makes this piece sing.
