About the Painting
This piece features two rugged and determined white pines, growing into the bedrock of northern Ontario. These trees are examples of nature growing despite the odds. In northern Ontario, pines often grow directly into the bedrock and overtime actually cause it to crack, shear off, or break under pressure. This sunset is pink, illuminating the rock in red and orange hues. The colour palette is filled with light, and the warm tones of the sun emanate from the painting. Blues and magenta pigments make up the sky, while the trees are detailed in soft pthalo greens and nickel azo. The weathered rock is completed in iron oxide red and yellow linework.
