#169 – Red-winged Blackbird Female

About the Painting
This female red winged blackbird has chosen a predictable perch on a swaying collection of creekside reeds. This painting captures the hurried focus of this little bird while she was mid hunt, nearly hidden from sight scavenging insects amongst the reeds and branches. The female red winged black bird is often more difficult to spot than their flashy male counterparts. You can identify their small frame with unique pale cream streaks against their ochre brown and titan buff toned feathers.
