About the Painting
A mother bear leads her cubs along a flowing river. This watery path is a close relative of the bear. Acting as a steward of her forest, she is passing on the generational instinct of fishing and navigation to her cubs. The comforting relationship between the bears and the river creates a sense of lushness and safety. The forest is rich in yellow, and the bears are touched with both the warmth of the forest and the coolness of the river. Strikingly, the cadmium yellow foliage of the trees is reflecting onto the river and the bears’ rich brown coats. There is an understanding of oneness between the bears and their environment.
