About the Painting
The rocky landscapes in northern Ontario create a challenging environment for trees, and they’re often found sprouting from small crevices deep within the bedrock. This painting illustrates the intrinsic camouflage offered by this type of environment. The rocks, foliage and woody limbs appear to wind together like an endless ribbon. The rock and groundcover are completed in layers of paynes grey and sienna brown. The foliage is detailed in naples yellow and sap green. Subtle highlights of sunlight are painted in titanium white and teal.
